Every year, Planetizen publishes a list of the top urban planning books published in the previous year. The titles are decided by Planetizen editors based on suggestions by professionals, academics, Planetizen readers and book reviews. View the 2005 list. Past winners have included A Field Guide to Sprawl , Dark Age Ahead, Halfway to Everywhere and The American City: What Works, What Doesn't We welcome your nomination. Please review our selection criteria .

Criteria for decision-making include editorial reviews, sales rankings, popularity, Planetizen reader nominations, number of references, recommendations from experts and the book's potential impact on the urban planning, development and design professions.
