BOCEP Offers Classes in Form-based Zoning, Brownfields Redevelopment and Land Use Law

Rutgers University, Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy

Do you know how to apply form-based zoning in your community? Are you aware of good practices in brownfields redevelopment? Can you accurately tell officials their limits in regulating adult uses and urban design?

Beginning October 5, Bloustein Online Continuing Education for Planners (BOCEP) is offering three courses that can help you answer these questions: Form-based Zoning, Neighborhood and Brownfields Redevelopment, and Current Trends in Land Use Law – First Amendment Issues.

BOCEP classes give you the time and convenience to explore difficult planning issues with experts and fellow professionals without having to travel or attend meetings. You can participate in your class at any time from any computer with an Internet connection. Each class is four weeks long, and most students spend about two to five hours a week in the class. Courses are taught at a graduate school level by experienced planning practitioners and researchers.

Most of the students are mid-career planning professionals, and they've given the BOCEP program good reviews. Course evaluations show:
• 74% of students "learned a great deal in this course";
• 80% said the "online discussions with my colleagues helped me learned the material," and
• 97% said the online environment is "easy to use."
• 91% would recommend the BOCEP program to mid- and senior-level planners
• 79% would recommend the BOCEP program to junior-level planners

BOCEP is offering 13 courses in three tracks: Urban Design and Placemaking, Land Use Law and Legal Issues, and 3E Planning (Environment, Equity and Economy). The courses cover such subjects as environmental planning, form-based zoning, effective client relations, urban design, and land use law. Students completing three courses can receive a Certificate of Completion.

Each class costs $250, but there are various discounts of 10% to 40% per class. Planetizen subscribers receive a discount of $25 per course. Please use Discount Code: F0883 to receive the Planetizen discount.

BOCEP is offered by the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University, one of the leading planning schools in the United States.
