Learning from Italy
Community Builders
Community Builders, a nonprofit providing design, planning and revitalization services to communities, leads an annual tour to Orvieto, Italy. Participants use the city as the lab in which to learn how culture, design and uses come together to create people places. The tour is a reintroduction to the subtle qualities and sheer joy that is experienced in people friendly places. Meet with local government officials who explain their philosophy and policies which contribute to a focus on quality of life. The tour takes place during the "Slow Food" festival, and Orvieto is one of Italy's official Slow Cities. Next tour is October 1-9, 2005 with a June 11 deadline for application.
