Envision Utah Selects INDEX for Visioning Tool

The Coalition for Utah's Future, sponsor of the award-winning Envision Utah process, has selected INDEX PlanBuilder as its support tool for the regional vision plan Wasatch Choices 2035. According to Assistant Executive Director Ted Knowlton, "This is an ambitious four-county regional process that will be Utah's first integrated land-use and transportation vision, and INDEX is ideally suited for the scenario simulation and impact assessment that our stakeholders need." The process is centered on the Salt Lake City metro area, one of the fastest-growing areas in the nation.

INDEX is a suite of interactive GIS tools for designing land-use and transportation scenarios, and evaluating their performance with indicators and stakeholder ratings. In addition to PlanBuilder, other INDEX tools include Paint the Region, Paint the Town, and PlanWorks.

Envision Utah joins similar regional planning processes being supported by INDEX tools in Washington DC, Kansas City, Chicago, Seattle, and Grand Rapids.
