Comments on Final WTC Generic Environmental Impact Statement

Little Italy Neighbors Association

The Agency's responsibility to map and analyze the environmental impact on schools as part of the Community Facilities can hardly be dismissed by a simple disclaimer. The evaluation is required because Chinatown has extreme asthma rates and a population sick since 9/11. There were low birth rates and autism in children under three years old. Public health conditions, aside, the trucks will impact play streets.

Deutsche Bank's suite of toxins is a nasty cargo that must be highly insured but the public will never know what is rumbling past their doors.

LMDC continues to refuse to provide plans needed to verify their contentious Open Space calculations and the "16 acres" that appear to be 14.2. But, doctoring unfavorable loss ratios based on historic figures was too easy for LMDC - figures for pre September 11th acreage were deflated from 8.13 to 7.14 acres.

Final comments will get neither a public hearing nor is further publication required. So, all of our objections to the fake process have come to nought.

LMDC is not bound to provide even the minimum protections of NYC Performance Standards Zoning to the workers or residents during the build-out nor is the Authority obliged to inform that already over exposed population if performance standards are exceeded. Also, ULS-Diesel will be rare due to lack of refining capacity. Yet, the FGEIS has no provision of what will happen should the builders be unable to obtain the cleaner fuel.

Hopefully the World Trade Center will rise above the legal manipulation and deliberate chicanery that went into the FGEIS.
