Wallace Roberts & Todd (WRT), a national planning and design firm headquartered in Philadelphia announces that San Francisco-based Solomon E.T.C. Architecture and Urban Design has joined the firm to practice as Solomon E.T.C., A WRT Company. The merger of these two award-winning firms combines Solomon's strength in urbanism with WRT's longstanding commitment to inner city revitalization and land stewardship.
Daniel Solomon, FAIA, a co-founder of Congress for the New Urbanism and professor emeritus at UC Berkeley, is WRT's newest principal. His firm, Solomon E.T.C., is widely recognized for urban housing projects - such as Vermont Village Plaza in South Central Los Angeles - that go beyond the provision of affordable shelter to inject new vitality into neighborhoods.
"The addition of Solomon E.T.C. as a WRT Company enables us to broaden our capabilities on the West Coast, and deepen WRT's commitment to and presence in the arena of urban revitalization throughout the United States. Daniel Solomon is a pivotal force in the development of livable, urban communities, and we and our clients are excited that his ideas and team of professionals will be part of WRT's wider practice," said WRT's managing principal Paul Rookwood, ASLA, AICP.
Wallace Roberts & Todd, LLC, founded nearly forty years ago, is a leader in innovative regional growth management and a pioneer of imaginative revitalization of cities. Although perhaps best known for projects such as the transformation of Baltimore's Inner Harbor, WRT is a recognized leader in HUD's HOPE VI program, enabling cities to leverage federal resources to transform distressed public housing into mixed-use communities. Solomon E.T.C. and WRT are currently paired on two HOPE VI projects in Oakland and a vision plan for the Green Belt Alliance that suggests more sustainable land use patterns for Coyote Valley near San Jose.
Solomon E.T.C, a WRT Company, has joined WRT's San Francisco office to serve public agencies, institutions and private developers nationwide. Wallace Roberts & Todd is a multidisciplinary practice of architects, landscape architects, urban designers and planners with headquarters in Philadelphia and offices in San Francisco, San Diego, Coral Gables, Dallas, and Lake Placid.
