The California Association for Local Economic Development is holding it's Bi-annual Fundamentals of Economic Development Course in Sacramento, June 10-12 2002. This course is designed to provide economic development staff and others who interface with economic development with an introduction to the major components of economic development. It includes an orientation of the global, national, state and local economic picture, as well as current fiscal and political issues facing local government and the impact they have on promoting local economic development. The course covers the major components of economic development: community assessment and planning, business retention and expansion and business attraction and marketing. In addition it covers the financing basics as well as organizing for economic development.
