Students Request Information from Planning Commissioners

Students Request Information from Planning Commissioners

Institute of Design

In our research, we've learned that inexperienced commissioners have difficulty finding the right questions to ask developers during various phases of proposal review. In some towns, we've seen entire commissions struggle to identify key questions that can have long term implications on the community.

This survey is an attempt to understand how commissioners set priorities and values so that they can serve as entry points in organizing a field guide. Our goal is to help new commissioners see that there are alternatives and choices in the way their communities grow, and to provide a range of topics and questions to help them during review.

Your thoughts would be valuable to our work. If you know of any commissioners who may be interested in sharing their thoughts, we would greatly appreciate it if they could contribute to our research as well.

The survey can be found at:

Thanks very much for your interest.
