RFP: Analysis of Building and Fire Codes Handbook

The goal is to prepare a concise and illustrative guide to explain and promote adaptive reuse in the Downtown Area. The audience will consist of architects, engineers, developers, and generally anyone who wants to know about how the Adaptive Reuse Ordinance (ARO) makes adaptive reuse projects easier.

Project activities:

Note: Consultant will be provided all information to be included in the guide. Printing of final product will be done through the City of Los Angeles Print Shop and costs for this printing will be borne by the City of Los Angeles.

1. Information will be provided to the consultant:

* Description and purpose of the ARO and other information deemed appropriate by the City

* Examples of successful projects developed using the ARO (i.e., property descriptions, photos, maps)

* Revised codes that relate to the ARO in terms of how they simplify Downtown development

* Contact information for development, ARO, etc.

2. Consultant will design the guide:

* Conceptualize a design in which to present the materials

* Prepare a mock-up of this design which will be presented to the Housing Dept and the Building & Safety working group for comments

* Present a draft version to the Housing Department

* Present the final version to the Housing Department in Quark Express (Macintosh OS) which is the preferred format for the City of Los Angeles Print Shop (please use Adobe Illustrator or PhotoShop to create graphics)

* Work with the City of Los Angeles Print Shop and the Housing Department to follow the progress of the project through completion
