INDEX PlanBuilder and TransitNeighbor Software Released

INDEX PlanBuilder and TransitNeighbor Software Released

Criterion Planners/Engineers

Two new versions of the GIS-based INDEX planning support software are now available to help communities create, implement, and achieve their plans. PlanBuilder is designed for local planning agencies with broad responsibilities for community development, and TransitNeighbor is focused on transit corridor and station area planning. Both versions are available for $3900 each, including training and a year's technical support. They are designed to provide three levels of support for professional planners and citizens: 1) creating plans through issues identification, alternatives analysis, and goal setting; 2) implementing plans by evaluating proposed development consistency with adopted goals; and 3) achieving plans by periodically measuring cumulative progress toward goals. INDEX has been available since 1994 in custom versions, which have been distributed to over 80 organizations in 25 states, primarily city and county planning departments. The software is developed and marketed by Criterion Planners/Engineers of Portland Oregon.
