The City of Tampa, FL is planning to integrate public art in two new community centers.
"A city initiative is taking art to the streets. Many of these public artworks are earmarked for central Tampa. Two community centers on their way for Central Tampa won't simply feature art on the walls. The walls will be art. Both East Tampa's Oak Park Recreation Center, which is undergoing major renovation, and the soon-to-be-built Barksdale Community Center in MacFarland Park in West Tampa will feature artwork built into the structures. The art projects are part of a city initiative to place public art throughout the city. "[Public art] impacts the quality of life more than you realize," said Robin Nigh, administrator for the city of Tampa's Art in Public Places department."
