"In the past decade, dozens of churches have risen from cornfields, and even more are under construction as places of worship join the Starbucks and home-improvement stores that follow population booms.And the trend is toward extravagance. Many new churches cost millions, are housed in cavernous buildings and come with amenities from restaurants to bookstores (and even heated baptismal pools)."
