"...properties that beachgoers never paid attention to on the way to the shore are also being snapped up, at sums incomprehensible to old-timers.Not surprisingly, there is increasing turmoil. Vintage summer cottages are disappearing in the resort towns, replaced by 'McMansions'... Property owners in incorporated areas...are partitioning double lots that held a single bungalow into two parcels. Then they are building two five- to seven-bedroom houses at the maximum square footage allowed."
