University Town Endorses Rental Registration

Athens-Clarke County commissioners approved a hotly debated rental registration ordinance 6-4 May 6 after receiving a total of more than 16 hours of public input in recent weeks, both in favor and against the ordinance.

The Athens, GA, ordinance designed to help enforce quality-of-life ordinances in single-family neighborhoods, the rental registration ordinance has been a point of contention between renters and homeowners since it was first proposed in February.
