The City of Simi Valley is seeking a Senior Planner to primarily conduct highly responsible current planning projects, environmental assessments and/or Housing Program functions.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in a variety of land use issues; self-motivated; capable of accomplishing complex tasks with minimal supervision; perform professional planning work; and perform management or administrative tasks as assigned. The Senior Planner will have a combination of supervisory and/or lead experience; urban design training; and the ability to function in a fast paced, municipal environment.
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban or regional planning, public ad-ministration, environmental science, or a related field.
Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible planning experience, including one year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience.
License/Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain/maintain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license is required. Possession of an AICP certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners is highly desirable.
