Transportation Planning Manager
Plan, manage, direct and oversee the activities of the Transportation Planning Division; prepare policies, program designs, regulations, resolutions and plans for review and approval by appropriate governing body; review, evaluate and interpret rules, regulations, policies, studies and plans; recommend revisions to Director of Development Services and governing bodies.
Direct and conduct field investigations and research to compile data for multi-modal transportation planning, and development; serve as professional resource to provide information and advice to elected officials, Development Services staff, other professionals and the general public on multi-modal transportation planning and development issues; represent Development Services as an expert in selected areas of transportation planning and development, including attendance at meetings, participation in transportation task forces and making presentations, both oral and written.
Develop service delivery model and resource materials; conduct training on specific issues for Development Services staff, other professionals, elected officials, advisory boards and the general public; maintain and update knowledge of federal, state and local legislation; research and recommend best practices in multi-modal transportation development.
Direct, supervise and coordinate assigned personnel; develop work plans, guide and advise staff in performing their duties; identify training needs, evaluate work performed and work with employees to correct deficiencies and build strengths.
Prepare and monitor division budget; coordinate Transportation Division activities with other divisions, departments and supervisors to facilitate efficient, effective and professional operations; assist with strategic planning for department; research and prepare a variety of complex oral and written reports;
represent the City at public and professional meetings and hearings; serve on City Senior Management Team; perform other duties as assigned.
