Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Planning Manager to lead and oversee the development of transportation plans and strategies that enhance mobility, improve infrastructure, and address community needs. This role is responsible for managing transportation studies, coordinating with public agencies, and ensuring that all planning efforts align with local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement transportation plans, programs, and studies, including long-range planning and corridor studies.
- Analyze traffic, transit, and multimodal systems to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
- Conduct feasibility studies and prepare reports to guide infrastructure development.
- Manage multiple transportation planning projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with engineers, planners, and other professionals to integrate planning outcomes into project designs.
- Collaborate with local governments, transportation agencies, and community stakeholders to gather input and build consensus on transportation initiatives.
- Represent DCS in public meetings, presentations, and planning forums.
- Utilize traffic modeling and analysis tools to support planning efforts.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure all planning efforts comply with local, state, and federal transportation regulations and funding requirements.
- Assist clients in navigating permitting processes and funding opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation planning, with at least 2 years in a project management or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of transportation planning principles, traffic modeling, and multimodal systems.
- Proficiency in GIS, traffic analysis software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Certification in AICP or PE is a plus.
