Your Role:
As the TOD Program Director, you will be responsible for driving GoTriangle’s TOD initiatives, managing the development of key transit facilities, and establishing productive partnerships with private and public stakeholders. You’ll serve as the project manager for critical projects like the Triangle Mobility Hub, which will transform the region’s central bus transfer station. You will also collaborate with GoTriangle’s Director of Real Estate and Facilities to maximize the potential of GoTriangle’s real estate assets, ensuring they contribute to long-term, sustainable, transit-oriented growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage large-scale, federally funded transit facility projects, such as the Triangle Mobility Hub. Oversee all aspects of project delivery, including budget, schedule, and quality control.
- Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with internal departments (Planning, Real Estate, Capital Development) and external partners (FTA, NCDOT, local jurisdictions, private developers) to secure funding and ensure successful project implementation.
- Real Estate & TOD Development: Manage land transactions and negotiations related to TOD and joint development projects. Evaluate and assess development proposals for financial viability, site planning, and alignment with GoTriangle’s policy objectives.
- Risk & Quality Management: Implement risk, safety, and quality management programs across all TOD projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Staff Oversight: Direct and oversee the work of planners, architects, engineers, and project controls staff. Provide leadership in hiring, developing, and evaluating team members.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Represent GoTriangle in interactions with local communities, government officials, and professional associations. Prepare and present project reports to the GoTriangle Board of Trustees.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Stay informed on trends and innovations in TOD, joint development, and public-private partnerships, and apply these to GoTriangle’s projects and strategic goals.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Public Administration, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in real estate development, preferably within government or private sector roles. Experience with public-private partnerships and TOD projects is essential.
- Skills: Strong project management and leadership abilities, with the ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and experience with project management software like eBuilder, MS Project, or Primavera P6 is preferred.
- Problem-Solving: A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, capable of troubleshooting challenges and developing innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
