About the Position:
In this position you will have the incredible opportunity to help develop a more sustainable and enjoyable community by helping with the development and implementation of long-range planning activities. You will interact with internal and external stakeholders as well as respond to resident inquiries. You will be instrumental in researching and evaluating proposed policies, practices, and projects to enhance quality of life in Cedar Rapids.
The Planner II classification is distinguished from the Planner I classification by the increased complexity and diversity of the planning developed by individuals in this classification.
Position Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
Salary:
- I: $55,993.60- $75,587.50 annually
- II: $59,904.00- $80,870.40 annually
Salary ranges listed above are evaluated in regards to relevant years of experience and education to determine fair and equitable pay.
Required Education and Experience
I:
- Bachelor's Degree Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Public Administration or related field and
- Up to ONE (1) year related experience in planning, urban design, or public administration or
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population
II:
- Bachelor's Degree Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Public Administration or related field and
- Three to five years of experience in planning, urban design, or public administration or
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population
