The City of Grandview Heights seeks to add another motivated, energetic individual to complement our existing Planning and Community Development staff. Under the supervision of the Director of Planning and Community Development, the Planning and Community Development Specialist will assist with planning, community development, zoning and economic development matters, initiatives and projects.

Activities may include assistance with research relating to planning, zoning and economic development, collaboration on and preparation of urban planning studies and design concepts both directly and with outside consultants, assistance with routine department administrative processes, assistance with communications relating to economic and community development and planning issues and initiatives, assistance with technical reviews, preparation of written reports and recommendations regarding potential development projects, support for Boards and Commissions, and such other related duties as may from time to time be required.


  • Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in city & regional planning, urban design, landscape architecture or related field required; master's degree preferred. Technical training in software applications such as Microsoft Office / Office 365, AutoCAD, Revit, ArcGIS, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite applications are preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of six months to two years' work experience, preferably in planning, community development or related fields and preferably for a public agency, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, ability, and skills.


Starting compensation is commensurate with experience and skillsets with an authorized pay range of $55,000 - $65,000. We complement a competitive salary with a robust public sector benefits package, flexible work hours, and enjoy, respect, and value the importance of work-life balance.
