Apply NowThe Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC), the regional planning agency for the seven county greater Milwaukee area and the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for the five urbanized areas within southeastern Wisconsin, has an immediate opening for a planner with an interest in urban design within the planning role. The Commission is looking for a highly motivated individual interested in joining a diverse team of planners and engineers focused on ensuring that the Region is prepared to compete on a national and global scale economically while improving the quality of life for the Region’s residents. The Land Use Planner will be a key staff member working in the Land Use Division to conduct and assist in the preparation of plans and reports and analysis and visualization of data. This is an excellent opportunity to bring urban design features into the Commission’s renowned planning reports.
Examples of Duties:
- Planning report preparation
- Prepares maps, tables, charts, graphs, and other visual data as needed for reports
- Creates conceptual illustrations for Commission plans
- Attends local meetings with Chief Planner or Principal Planner
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in urban design or planning, with an emphasis in urban design
- Knowledge of federal and state laws related to the principles, practices and procedures associated with land use planning
- Proficiency in writing, research, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to understand and interpret aerial photographs and site plans
- Ability to work within and contribute to a team structure and to work with diverse groups of individuals within diverse environments
Preferred:
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, ESRI or AutoCAD software
