Brick & Story is seeking a part-time Project Manager & Community Engager, located in the Washington, DC metro area. Reporting to the firm’s Principal, this position will be responsible for various management and support services for assigned projects and will plan, organize, and direct execution of special projects, events, and requests.

Duties & Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

Project Management Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Supports strategy development and implementation/execution for project work plans and oversees management of project work plan in partnership with Principal
  • Coordinates and manages all aspects of assigned projects to ensure timely completion within available budget.

Community Engagement Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Leads/supports meeting facilitation using virtual and in-person meeting tools, including digital whiteboards (Mural) and other tools as appropriate
  • Coordinates for engagement activities, including event design, setup/breakdown, and post-event follow-up
  • Conducts direct engagement outreach, including door-knocking, flyering, and other external engagement


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks when appropriate.
  • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn about the project being developed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) or related software.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Canva desired, but not required

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, which may include Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Studies, Public Policy, Community Planning, Human Services, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or other related field , required.
  • At least 2-3 years of related experience required.
  • Multilingual highly desirable

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Participation in external events which may include standing indoors or outdoors for several hours at a time, as well as extensive walking to conduct outreach
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, locally and regionally
