We are seeking a Transportation Planner, Grant Program Administrator with experience preparing, writing, reviewing, and submitting grants for transportation planning funds. Experience supporting the development, update, and management of a Unified Planning Work Program, the Transportation Improvement Program, and grant programs such as Section 5310 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors & Individuals with Disabilities, the Transportation Alternative set-aside of the Surface Transportation Block Program, and the Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality Improvement Program are preferred.  

To be successful in this position, you must be familiar with current grant opportunities, processes, requirements, and selection to lead grant writing, review, ranking, and submittal efforts. You will support transportation projects through transportation planning and grant writing in one of the largest and most complex regions of the country. This position will require commuting to New York City at least three days a week.   

Responsibilities

  • Support a key client with transportation planning and grant writing/administration
  • Support client with outreach and communication efforts
  • Lead development of project deliverables and provide quality management master timelines of federally required planning products and analyses and projections
  • Formulate detailed guidance packages for each UPWP or TIP update cycle
  • Support preparation, amendments, or modifications to UPWP, TIP, and other plans
  • Review various grant program project proposals, and other project proposals, for completeness and against eligibility criteria
  • Convene and prepare materials for applicable committees in support of UPWP, TIP, or grant activities
  • Input and maintain project information in relevant databases and/or content management software

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in Transportation Planning grant writing
  • Working knowledge of regional planning, particularly transportation planning, and transportation systems analysis
  • Understanding and knowledge of applicable transportation planning grant programs, regulations, and requirements
  • Ability to develop and manipulate databases
  • Experience with document preparation, formatting, and editing
  • Experience in grant writing, review, ranking, and submittal efforts
  • Experience with intergovernmental outreach

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Planning, Public Policy or similar discipline
