Primarily, this Senior Planner position will perform professional planning duties focusing on connecting the policy work with action by being directly responsible for leading the development of a new innovative, responsive, and aligned set of land use development regulations that will be combined as a Unified Development Ordinance. The comprehensive code reform work will address city needs including consideration of equity, sustainability, and access to affordable housing. This position will work internally with the City of Missoula organization, and externally with community members to help shape the process related to code reform and to help clarify future community direction that will be a part of an updated growth policy.

Core duties and responsibilities to include:

• Lead or collaborate in community planning and development projects, including conduct field research, compile and evaluate data, ensure compliance/conformity, prepare technical reports

• Prepare, oversee, and implement planning and development projects; assess project conformity with plans

• Create and present public information, outreach materials (e.g., maps, charts, etc.); promotional and educational materials

• Prepare plans, ordinances, regulations, resolutions, narratives, staff reports with findings of fact and conclusions of law.

• Represent department/City at various meetings, serving as a professional expert • Provide support to governing bodies and citizen boards, including prepare agendas and supporting materials; make presentations, and respond to inquiries

• Community Planning focus: Facilitate a long-range vision for the community that is implemented through adopted plans, policies, codes, and partnerships; compile and analyze community planning information, align policies and regulations through code reform.
