About the Organization
The Center for Creative Land Recycling (CCLR) is the oldest national non-profit organization pioneering infill development and land reuse to promote human and environmental health and  economic revitalization. Our mission is to advance communities’ sustainable and equitable reuse of underutilized and environmentally-impacted properties, commonly called "brownfields." 

Through training and technical assistance CCLR offers communities the tools needed to turn brownfields properties into community assets including housing, open spaces, and commercial properties, thereby creating jobs and local tax revenues. To ensure optimal outcomes for our projects, we lead policy efforts at all levels of government to remove obstacles to sustainable development, increase available funding, and promote access to resources. CCLR engages stakeholders from all sectors and disciplines in creative partnerships that promote collaboration and innovation in sustainable development.  

CCLR is a national organization with offices in California and New York.  State and federal funding is driving redevelopment and CCLR is growing through diversifying its portfolio.

Director of Technical Assistance
This newly created management position will anchor CCLR’s delivery of technical assistance and  prioritize program development and service delivery under contracts/cooperative agreements with the State of California, U.S. EPA and other public and private entities. This is an excellent opportunity for a goal-oriented professional to work with a dynamic and mission-driven organization during a period of expansion. The Director of Technical Assistance will report to the Executive Director and join CCLR’s team at its office in Berkeley, CA. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Technical Assistance will perform the following and other duties as assigned:

  1. Lead provision of service delivery.  The Director will manage staff, consultants and subcontractors to prioritize provision of technical assistance and oversee the delivery of services to ensure metrics are met in accordance with contracts/cooperative agreements, including but not limited to:
    1.  EPA Regions 9 and 10 ( Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Oregon, and tribal nations)
    2. EPA Multi-purpose, Assessment, Cleanup and Revolving Loan Fund grants
    3. DTSC’s Equitable Communities Revitalization Grant
    4. Other public and private contracts 
    5. As skills and time permit, the Director will also provide direct technical consulting services in support of CCLR’s clients. 
  2. Systems and Reporting. Oversee the build out of database, accounting and reporting systems in support of service delivery and contract compliance. 
  3. Events/Webinar/Training.  Contribute to the planning and execution of CCLR and affiliated events, webinars and training by planning panels, speaking and managing logistics.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • B.S. in urban design, planning, landscape architecture, engineering field or non-profit management with ten years of experience in working with public and private sector stakeholders in land reuse or environmental planning and/or brownfield redevelopment. Alternatively, a Master’s degree with five years working experience. 
  • Experience in managing staff and team development. 
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing new programs that includes a technical assistance component.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting program goals, metrics and reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational, written, and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

The candidate should have experience with a broad set of software and web technologies including Microsoft Suite, Survey Monkey, Zoom, and other video conferencing platforms. Salesforce is required.  Some travel may be required, subject to Covid restrictions. The candidate will work out of CCLR’s downtown Berkeley, CA  office. 

Compensation and Benefits
Applications will be reviewed until October 11, 2021. This is a full-time, exempt staff position.  Salary range will be between $105,000-$120,000 based on experience and qualifications.
