What Our Senior Planners Do
Senior Planners work proactively with public, private, and nonprofit planning partners to implement places2040 (the Lancaster County comprehensive plan) and other countywide plans and policies. They coordinate projects in functional areas of planning and/or a particular geographical area.
About This Position
This particular position is on the Planning Services Team. Senior Planners on this team are known as Regional Planners, and they serve as the county planning liaison to an assigned planning area. Within that area, they work with planning partners (particularly municipalities, school districts, and utility authorities) and other staff to facilitate regional planning and policy development consistent with countywide plans. They also coordinate and present advisory reviews of regional and municipal plans, ordinances, and subdivision and land development items.
Minimum qualifications for this position are a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or a related field and 3 years of varied and complex experience in planning, or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or a related field and 5 years of varied and complex experience in planning, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job.
