ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Town seeks an energetic, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual to provide professional level management and administrative support to our Planning and Building Department. The selected person should feel comfortable utilizing digital maps in GIS, permitting software, and be aware of innovative technologies to improve processes. Yountville has a lean organizational structure and our employees exhibit a "can-do" attitude while taking a "hands-on" approach to deliver a high level of services to our 3,000residents, visitors, and business community.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Planning & Building Department is responsible for preparing amending, maintaining, and implementing policies and regulations contained in the Town's General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, Design Ordinance, and Building Code. The implementation of these ordinances ensures balanced land uses, orderly development, protection of public health and safety, and conservation of environmental resources.

The Town of Yountville Planning and Building Department is responsible for providing planning, building, and code enforcement services. The Department’s goal is to administer and fulfill the objectives of the General Plan, implement the Zoning and Design Ordinance, provide applicants with efficient permit processing services, and provide citizens appropriate opportunities to participate inland use decisions. Current projects include processing entitlement applications, code enforcement activities, Homeowner occupied rehabilitation project and day to day interaction with the public counter. The Town will begin its Housing Element update next year.

EXPECTATIONS

  • Ability to perform professional level work in the field of current and advanced planning; conduct special projects and research as assigned; and prepare reports and recommendations relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Review development proposals and other requests made to the department for conformance with appropriate regulations; prepare reports of recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain multiple projects simultaneously utilizing GIS software. Projects include interactive story and infrastructure maps.
  • Research and develop ordinances and departmental policies that may result in the creation of new community programs and processes. Possess the ability to intuitively compare similar programs from other agencies while including elements that are unique to Yountville.
  • Administer code compliance programs, including the Use Permit Annual Monitoring Program, Employee Parking Management Program, Rental Registration Program, and others.
  • Be responsible for preparation of agendas, staff reports, and public posting process
