Planner, Senior (Long Range)
The City of Overland Park has a full-time Planner, Senior (Long Range) position available in the Strategic Planning Division within the Planning & Development Services Department.
Responsibilities: Assists in all aspects of long range planning, including comprehensive planning and annual plan amendments, demographic and development reporting, neighborhood planning, regional policy support, trends analysis and special initiatives as requested by City Council and City Manager’s Office. Assists other city departments and community groups in envisioning the future and setting strategic goals. Serves as Planner of the Day, as required. May perform managerial duties in the absence of the Manager of Strategic Planning.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in planning, urban planning, environmental studies, landscape architecture, geography or a closely related field. Master’s Degree in Planning is desirable. AICP certification and a bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for a Master’s degree. Minimum of five years of experience in city planning, or an equivalent level of experience in a related planning field. Progressively responsible experience in comprehensive and land use planning is preferred. No City residency requirement.
Must successfully pass a background check, drug screen and physical exam.
