What Our Senior Planners Do
Senior Planners work proactively with public, private, and nonprofit planning partners to implement places2040 (the Lancaster County comprehensive plan) and related plans and policies. They coordinate projects in functional areas of planning and/or a particular geographical area.
About This Position
This Senior Planner position serves on the Land Use and Transportation Team, which provides technical assistance – both internally and externally – in comprehensive planning and growth management, land use and transportation, housing, environment, heritage conservation, placemaking, planning education, civic engagement, and data analysis.
Senior Planners on this team may be assigned areas of specialization, and serve as liaisons to nonprofit planning partners who focus on these areas. This Senior Planner position has an emphasis on housing and its interrelationship with land use and transportation.
Minimum qualifications for this position are a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or a related field and 3 years of varied and complex experience in planning, or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or a related field and 5 years of varied and complex experience in planning, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job.
