The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC), the regional planning agency for the seven county greater Milwaukee area, has an immediate opening for a civil engineer with an interest in transportation and traffic engineering and planning. SEWRPC accomplishes this through the preparation of a long-range land use and transportation plan and short-range transportation plans and improvement programs. SEWRPC staff is also frequently called upon to supplement local planning and engineering staffs in the conduct of small feasibility and engineering studies.
Responsibilities for this position include the analysis of traffic and travel related data, preparation of transportation plans, planning and engineering assistance to local units of government, and Federally required reports and programming.
The Commission is looking for a highly motivated individual interested in joining a diverse team of planners and engineers focused on ensuring that the Region is prepared to compete on a national and global scale economically while improving the quality of life for the Region’s residents. A minimum of 2 years of experience is required for the position along with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with an emphasis in transportation and/or traffic engineering, and the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Substantial Internship, co-op, or additional academic experience (such as a master’s degree) may be considered in lieu of the minimum experience requirement. Experience with transportation planning, traffic analysis software (such as Highway Capacity Software), CAD, Database design and management, and/or GIS is desirable. Salary range is $50,000 to $75,000 depending upon education, experience, and placement with the organizational structure. Salary outside the range may be considered for highly qualified applicants.
