The City of Pittsburgh's Department of City Planning (DCP) is looking to hire an Assistant Director of Strategic Planning. This position serves to direct all long range planning activities related to land use in the City and is a part of the Department's leadership team.
There's a lot of great planning work going on in Pittsburgh right now, from the development of the City's first City-wide comprehensive land use plan (ForgingPGH) where the City is focusing on planning for residents and places that are most vulnerable to displacement, neighborhood planning in the university district (Oakland) and one of Pittsburgh's most prominent historic Black neighborhoods (the Hill District), re-writing of the City's Stormwater Code, integration of energy, climate policy, and equity into Departmental and Division workplans, and so much more. Recent Departmental projects have won both national and state awards. The team you'd manage here is great, motivated, well-rounded, and has a variety of lived and professional experiences.
The right person for the job has enough experience in issues of planning, development, equity, engagement, and sustainability to drive the workplan of the entire Division, mentor and lead our long-range planning staff, and help the Planning Director set the direction of the Department.
Salary for the position is $95,504 / year.
