The Stanislaus Council of Governments (StanCOG) is seeking a Principal Transportation Planner for Programming and Project Delivery to join its leadership team and be a part of the transportation planning process in the Stanislaus region of northern California where StanCOG serves as the federally-designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the state-designated Regional Transportation Planning Agency (RTPA), and the Local Transportation Authority (LTA).

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills required to supervise a small staff and collaborate with other government agencies; possess leadership abilities; be a strategic thinker, a creative and resourceful problem solver, an effective public speaker and write professional reports.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in transportation project/program management and funding; one year of supervisory experience preferred but not required. Demonstrated experience working with the California Department of Transportation on transportation funding and project delivery is highly desirable. A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, regional, urban or transportation planning, or a related field from an accredited college or university is also required.
