The Metropolitan Transportation Commission is seeking an Administrative Director, Office of the Executive Director. The person in this positon will act as the chief of staff for the Executive Director and the Executive Office assisting directly with the planning and oversight of all administrative, financial, and operational activities for the Executive Director, and supporting the coordination of the work of the other executives as it funnels to the Executive Director.

The tasks this person will perform include organizing and prioritizing work programs, critical issues, and required information for the executive to facilitate efficient decision making.  The individual in this position is a supportive point of contact or gatekeeper between the Executive Director and frequently the other executives and key stakeholders focused on ensuring work is moving forward and obstacles are addressed. The position duties include responsibility for the management of executive support staff and staff supporting the agency's public meetings.

To be considered for the position the person must have the following:

Education:  Completion of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. Degrees in public administration, political science, business management, or similar public service focused areas of study including transportation, urban or land use policy, planning, or engineering preferred. (Applicants with a degree issued from an institution outside the United States must have their transcripts evaluated by an academic accrediting service and provide proof of equivalency attached to their application.)

Experience:  Minimum of six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience effectively leading and managing programs and projects with direct employee supervision and management. Work supporting government officials or public agency work program delivery at a management or leadership level is a plus.

Knowledge of:  Organizational design and staffing; section and agency-wide business operation processes and workflow strategies; project management, legal compliance, and budget management; contract negotiation and administration, procurement and vendor selection; best practices and requirements for accessible and inclusive business operations; how to create department practices and lead staff performance to meet objectives and create an employee-oriented, high performance culture.
