This position is under the general direction of the Principal, Design & Project Delivery, the individual who will assume this position will support transportation planning, multi-modal analysis, and innovation to increase person throughput, minimize congestion delays, and improve operations on toll bridges, freeways and arterials in the Bay Area. The individual is expected to help identify key transportation issues to be addressed, diagnose the traffic and transit operations problems within a corridor/project area, perform simple to complex data analysis and visualization, make recommendations on suitable strategies, and support project implementation. The individual may support detailed corridor-level planning and technical multi-modal analysis to identify specific improvements.

The minimum qualifications to be considered for this position are:

An appropriate combination of education and experience that has provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is:

Education:  A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field related to the area of assignment, such as transportation planning, city and regional planning, transportation engineering or modeling.  A Master's degree is desirable.  (Applicants with a degree issued from an institution outside the United States must have their transcripts evaluated by an academic accrediting service and provide proof of equivalency along with the application.)

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible experience in an appropriate field related to the area of assignment.  GIS experience is a plus.  Experience with project management is highly desirable.

Preference will be given to applicants with direct relevant work experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • transit planning,
  • transportation planning (e.g., bicycle or transit plans, transportation demand management),
  • data analytics, and
  • new mobility services
