Perform advanced professional level duties in the development, implementation and modification of City plans and regulations; provide planning and development services in the coordination and management of the City's major planning efforts; provide public assistance and liaison to other organizations, agencies, consultants, and developers; ensure adherence to City and mandated rules, regulations, codes, ordinances and standards; provide lead supervision over professional and technical staff and citizen committees; perform a variety of duties relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Grand Junction, the western gateway to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, is located 250 miles west of Denver and 270 miles east of Salt Lake City. Situated along Interstate 70 and served by a regional airport, Grand Junction is the regional center for commercial, financial, governmental and cultural activities. Western Colorado Community College, a technical school, works closely with local businesses to provide a trained workforce. Surrounded by over 1.2 million acres of public lands, Grand Junction is a center for activities that include world-class mountain biking, hiking, camping, fishing, rafting, skiing, rock-climbing and other outdoor activities that can be enjoyed year-round. Grand Junction hosts community and cultural events throughout the year that include the Junior College Baseball World Series, Grand Junction Symphony and tours of the many wineries of the Grand Valley.
