Masters of Real Estate Development

Raymond J. Harbert College of Business
Jana L. Smith
Assistant Director, Executive MBA Programs

The Auburn University Masters of Real Estate Development (MRED) program is the only executive graduate degree of its kind offered in the US.  The program is delivered jointly by the College of Architecture, Design and Construction and the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business. One of its primary strengths is the merging of the disciplines housed in these two colleges.

The MRED program is aimed at practicing professionals with a minimum of three years of full-time professional experience in real estate development or in a related field, such as mortgage banking or construction. Alternatively, an applicant may qualify for admission by having five years full-time post-baccalaureate professional work experience. Our recruits have demonstrated excellence in their professional careers and have the potential to become future industry leaders.

Auburn’s MRED program combines short-term residencies on the Auburn campus with an intense distance learning component. This blended-delivery education format makes it possible for each class to build collaborative relationships and encourages direct interaction between faculty and students.

The program delivers a solid, broad-based graduate-level education producing students with outstanding leadership skills and substantial professional knowledge. It emphasizes best development practices related to environmental sustainability, social responsibility, economic resilience, financial feasibility, deal structuring, and design excellence.
