Minnesotan Democratic Congressman Martin Olav Sabo argues that Bush Administration proposals framed as matters of military readiness and patriotism are just the latest efforts to roll back environmental laws.

Since taking office, President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have spent far too much time looking out for the interests of their polluter friends, and far too little time protecting clean air, clean water and public lands. Now as the administration blurs lines between national interest and security, our troops will return to an even more endangered environment.
