Proposals for S.F.'s Crissy Field Unfit for Spectacular Site

San Francisco Chronicle architecture critic John King bemoans the visions put forth by three finalists vying to redevelop a spectacular site across from the Crissy Field marsh.

"There's no piece of land in San Francisco with more potential than the 16-acre slice on Mason Street across from the Crissy Field marsh."

"This pivot point is where the Presidio Trust wants to establish an international-caliber cultural institution. Sixteen teams made a run at the site last winter. The three still in the hunt will submit full proposals in September."

"And so far," says King, "the choices are underwhelming."
