Envisioning a Less Suburban Long Island

The Long Island Index, a project to gather and present data about Long Island, has been studying the exodus of young people from their community. Now they're trying to do something about it with a new vision for the island.

www.buildabetterburb.org, a new website from the Long Island Index, presents ways of improving and updating the built environment.

Emily Badger explains:

"The project dispenses with all the statistics and reports and maps and goes straight for the suburban eye candy: beautiful photos of actual communities across the country who are redefining a modern suburb where actual 20-somethings might want to live."
