'Urban Planning is Dead in the U.S.,' Says Gehry
17 December 2009 - 11:00am
In this interview, Frank Gehry defends his record and balks at being called a "starchitect."
In addition to excoriating American urban planning, Gehry talks about his new building in Abu Dhabi and the lack of true "environmentally-friendly" architecture.
Interviewer Holly Williams says she "...can't resist mentioning that architects' nemesis, the Prince of Wales. But it elicits a surprising response. "It's ok for Prince Charles to be who he is, and want what he wants – God bless him for coming out of the closet and saying what he thinks ... I mean some of things he likes, I like, and some of things he's come out against, well, I'm on his side," he says."
