A Citizens Guide to Subdivisions and Smart Growth

16 November 2006 - 1:00pm

A new guide helps citizens to identify the differences between good and bad subdivisions in Monanta.

Getting the Growth You Want: A Citizens Guide to Subdivisions and Smart Growth is the first of a two-part series from the Montana Smart Growth Coalition and the Great Yellowstone Coalition designed to help communities approve good subdivisions and deny bad ones.

The guide provides an overview how subdivisions in Montana are proposed (and either approved or denied); what makes a good subdivision; and how to get involved. It takes the reader step-by-step through the development process, from land subdivision to conditional approval or denial of the development proposal. Tips on meeting with the developer, elected officials, and discussion at public meetings are also covered in this publication.
