The e-commerce explosion has resulted in server farms housing internet servers and networking equipment needed to host a 24/7 website. Internet service providers are expanding these facilities to keep up with demain. But they are also creating problems for local jurisdictions that have to deal with the increased demand for power; in some cases one facility may consume as much power as a small town.
