Boulder's New Mountain Open Space
23 September 2000 - 1:00pm
Boulder County buys 800 acres of open space for $3.5 million.
"The Boulder County Commissioners on Thursday agreed to spend $3.5 million on 800 mountain acres for open space, including $2.4 million for 363 acres on Gold Hill, where Boulder County settlers struck gold for the first time in 1859. The land deals open the door for the county to acquire large areas of land from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management at $3.50 per acre under the Recreational and Public Purposes Act, saving the county millions of dollars."
