Alleys Making A Comeback, New Urbanist Style

Several Phoenix citiess are integrating alleys as part of redesigning retail and neighborhood communities.
"Arizona's return to traditional neighborhoods follows a New Urbanism trend that has spread over the past two decades. It includes communities like Seaside, Fla.; Kentlands, Md.; Daybreak, Utah; and Laguna West, Calif. Each community has tried to create a small-town environment that fosters neighborliness and overcomes the sterility and repetitive blandness of cul-de-sac suburbia."
