Top Ten Safest U.S. Cities
9 June 2005 - 8:00am
The Orange County Register analyzes FBI crime statistics and ranks the safest cities in the nation.
"The data were drawn from 265 cities' police department initial reports of violent crimes such as murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.
The list also indexed property crimes such as burglary, larceny and motor theft.
The Register compared violent and property crimes per 100,000 residents to come up with a measurement of the pervasiveness of crime regardless of a city's population. "
