Helping To Revive Dead and Dying Malls

The Congress for New Urbanism shows how mixed-use redevelopment of dead and dying shopping malls can create valuable urban assets.

CNU announces the latest addition to their greyfields catalogue — a step-by-step tool for property owners and community leaders to use in analyzing greyfield properties and selecting the right development strategy for them. According to Will Fleisig, one of the experts who contributed to the guide, “The mall represents a point in time in the evolution of retailing. Now we’re reaching the end of that era and entering something new." As many malls cease to offer value, communities are pursuing redevelopment plans that can help turn them into community assets.
