New Urbanism Cozies Up To A College Campus

DesMoine's Drake neighborhood breaks ground on a new, "New Urban" development.
Constructing loft living spaces with ground floor retail, and renovations to existing businesses are in the plan to promote urban living near campus.
"Investors aim to attract Drake University students, young professionals and empty nesters to the loft apartments and rowhouses - a much-needed asset on the east side of Drake's campus, university officials said."We're obviously very excited," said Don Adams, head of Drake's neighborhood improvement task force. "The plan fits the neighborhood perfectly."
