Senior Community Planner
A senior community planner works directly with municipal planning partners under the general guidance and supervision of the Director for Community Planning.
The Senior Community Planner is expected to work independently in assessing municipal planning needs and developing planning tools that are both tailored to a specific community, and that can serve as a model for other municipalities. Senior community planners serve as liaison to municipal governments and support local implementation of Envision Lancaster, the Lancaster County Comprehensive Plan. They are assigned to specific municipalities and serve as the representative of the planning commission to those entities.
A community planner is expected to work effectively with municipal officials on a range of community planning issues. The senior community planner is also assigned to review subdivision plans, and municipal zoning ordinance and comprehensive plan amendments.
Master’s degree in urban or regional planning, or related field, and three years of relevant experience in community-related planning, or a bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning, or related field, and five years of relevant experience in community-related planning, are required.
Professional experience that demonstrates a balanced competence in urban and regional planning, site design, and rural lands development and conservation planning.
A valid driver's license and the ability to furnish personal transportation.
Acceptable pre-employment driver history check in accordance with County Policy. Accreditation by the American Institute of Certified Planners is highly desirable.
Salary negotiable, dependent upon experience.
