The District of Columbia is updating its Sustainable DC plan, originally crafted in 2012, and seeking feedback on draft goals set for 2032.
According to an article by David Alpert, the Sustainable DC team is seeking feedback on a draft outline of the "Sustainable DC 2.0" plan. The Sustainable DC team includes a core group of collaborators representing the Mayor's Office, the Department of Energy and Environment, and the Office of Planning.
Alpert highlights a few of the plan's goals, focusing on transportation, land use, and development goals. The draft outline includes goals to increase mode share for walking and biking to 25 percent of all commute trips by 2032, reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation by 60 percent by 2032, and provide essential services within a ten-minute walk of all residents also by 2032.
