The Chatham County-Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) seeks a planner to join a team of professionals responsible for reviewing land development proposals including site plans, subdivisions, and zoning petitions.  The position requires skills and experience in land use planning, zoning, and urban design. Knowledge of comprehensive planning and master planning are necessary to excel in this position. GIS experience is desirable but not required. Salary is commensurate with experience. Applicants must possess exceptional writing, presentation, and analytical skills as well as the ability to engage with groups including local government officials, stakeholder organizations, residents and the development community.

Education and experience requirements are:  a) Bachelor’s Degree in urban or regional planning, or a degree in a related field such as urban design and four (4) years professional planning experience; or, b) two (2) years Master’s Degree in urban or regional planning, or related field and professional planning experience. AICP certification is desirable but not required.
